LANDSCAPING & PAVING APPLICATIONS
Good paving does more than cover the ground. It sets the tone for a space, handles the traffic it carries and lasts for decades with very little upkeep. The right choice depends on what the surface is for, from a domestic driveway to a public plaza.
Corobrik offers both clay and concrete pavers for landscaping and outdoor projects. Clay pavers never fade, because the colour is fired into the brick at over 1 000°C, and are available nationally in a wide range of shapes and colours. Concrete pavers, only available in KwaZulu-Natal, add further options for block paving in commercial and infrastructure settings. This page helps you choose the right paver type and thickness for your application.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT PAVER FOR THE JOB
Paver choice comes down to two things: the traffic the surface will carry, and the look you want.
DRIVEWAYS & VEHICLE TRAFFIC
Choose a cobble-shaped paver in 73mm thickness. The interlocking shape distributes load evenly and the thicker profile handles vehicle weight without shifting. Popular choices include Heritage Cobble and Country Cobble.
PATIOS, POOL SURROUNDS & ENTERTAINMENT AREAS
Modular and Piazza formats in 50mm or 65mm thickness work well. Clean modular lines suit contemporary spaces, while Piazza pavers offer a more traditional aesthetic.
GARDEN PATHS & LIGHT FOOT TRAFFIC
Any shape in 50mm thickness. For a natural feel, consider an earth-toned paver laid in a herringbone or basketweave pattern through garden beds.
COMMERCIAL & PUBLIC REALM
For plazas, walkways and high-traffic public areas, heavier-duty clay pavers and, in KwaZulu-Natal, concrete block paving provide hard-wearing, easily maintained surfaces.
WHY CHOOSE CLAY PAVERS?
A clay paver driveway or patio lifts the look and value of a property, and keeps doing so for years.
Colour Longevity
The colour is fired into the brick at over 1 000°C, so it stays true for the life of the installation, unlike concrete or tar which fade and stain.
Extremely Durable
Clay pavers resist cracking, don’t stain easily, and can be individually lifted and replaced if a section is ever damaged.
Low Maintenance
From cobble formats for driveways to modular and traditional Piazza profiles, in warm and cool tones to suit any landscape.
A Wide Variety
Fired at between 800°C and 1 000°C, clay face brick cannot burn and does not add to the fire load of a building, unlike combustible cladding materials.
